In pursuit of national strategic security and the prevention of water supply crises, Singapore's Public Utilities Board (PUB) has introduced the “Four National Taps” plan to manage the country's water resources. These four“taps” encompass rainwater harvesting, freshwater imports, seawater desalination and wastewater reuse, known as NEWater. Singapore's goal is

to achieve water self-sufficiency by 2060, just one year before its water supply agreement with Malaysia expires.
